We had gift tags professionally made and never used them (first three photos).
Still upstairs boxed up.
Things change from when you start a business until you truly settle down to what style you want.
Do you think that?
As never used we've added them to our website in packs of ten. We'd rather anther be able to use them!
Size: 2 x 1 " with a 0.5" hole. Printed on ivory card in a sweeping brown italic font. And printed at a professional printers too. If any one interested they are available at Bath Bomb Creations.
These pretty pink scalloped tags we shall be using November 8th. Each tag will accompany a matching colourful cellophane bag filled with traditional soap or bath bombs! It's a Pamper Evening so lots of lovely luxuries for Mum's to pamper themselves with. We have the usual mix & match which the school kids love too.
These are printed on 5cm / 2" white card, have a scalloped edge and printed one side, plus matching ribbon.
We love 'em! Ok so we are no longer pink but they are perfect for girlie pamper bags.
Don't forget to visit Wendy's Handmade Monday and read her other posts that always has lots of interesting business tips... I also signed up to the craft shop Wholeport after reading about Wendy's purchases and today Wendy has a competition in conjunction with Wholeport. We've entered! We shall order a stamp anyway as been searching endlessly for the right stamp for Feline Care. Be great if you could LIKE them too. They are so protective and when the land was being sold, raised tens of thousands of pounds to buy the land and keep the homes for the felines in there care. I admire that.
Does anyone listen to the Jeremy Vine Show on radio 2? Friday was about small businesses.
I made quick notes when I could at work!!!! You can always guarantee the phones rings!
1: Go for something that millions are not. (eg was give cupcakes a miss)
2: You can start with little capital. (ie hundred pounds IS ok. At least two people are now millionaires)
3: Avoid the overheads - work from home, no staff unless they can work for free, basically do whatever you can without laying out cash unnecessarily. Do what you can do yourself.
4: Flash the name about - email signature, a t-shirt, name on your bag, postcards to friends etc, join groups forums etc and leave the business name, local papers sometimes happy to report on a local business for free.. My plan was always to have a painted plaque to hang from the coat hook above the back side window of my car. Just cannot until the web is live. I pin business cards up on free notice boards too. I leave messages and always add our business name.
5: Yes, social networking. (FB, Twitter etc)
My time is taken up with the web now. My sister left in August as she has the chance to study for her chartered accountancy so that comes first. Slight back step for us yet we've made lots of headway in another. Sometimes I feel quite overwhelmed with the work involved with the web as it's the extras too - photos, costings, sku, meta tags etc etc. Plus ideas for events. Thank fully Ray makes the luxuries ... that's hubby, by the way!
I've been getting ready for November 8th and making signage. My leg is out of action and in lot of pain. Got hit by a car two years ago and every now and then my leg gives out. All because someone wasn't paying attention on the road. All that I've needed today has been upstairs lol!
Ok, I've rambled.

There's so much good advice in this post - and yes, I do agree you have to find your own style and your own way. Good luck with the ongoing website. Hope that leg feels better soon, it's pretty awful when things keep flaring up x
I like the little pink scallop tags!
Yes, I was listening to Jeremy Vine and was pleased that I was doing some things right!
Here's hoping your leg recovers soon. xxx
I also have different business cards now to the ones I started out with 12 months ago.
I changed my business cards after struggling to design a website. I now have some with just email, FB page and blog. When the website gets done i'll bring out the old ones! Theres some good advice for small businesses there, I shall be following those tips! Hope your leg gets better soon. x
That's a lot of sound advice for starting up a business. The web has been invaluable to people who otherwise wouldn't be able to set up a business. I hope you do well, the new cards look great.
